Hitchhiking... miserable failure...

So, we are in the middle of nowhere in China, the country! Trying to go some place nice... it's already 20.00 in the evening, the Sun has disappeared. The night is getting closer... and... we ain't got any place to stay at. And the idea to get a "free ride" is deep in our heads. :-) but there is this lady that follows us on her mini-bus and proposes to give us a ride for 80 Monopoly money.


Evidently, since I look like a Chinese more than Alex she speaks to me first, and I start pretending that I am deaf and can't speak... LMFAO! Alex tells her that we didn't have any money and were ready to ride with her if it were for free... Of course, she wants money (capitalism...), and she doesn't give - this is when I decided to break the silence and speak to Alex - taking pictures at the same time. In the end the lady was gone, and we were roaming the lonely road in China...

China, getting late... the darkness approaches...

So, we stopped a couple of cars - no one wanted to give us a ride... at least not for free. I know, I know... When it became really dark we decided to walk 30 km. to the place where we wanted to stay. We stop a guy on a minibus, apparently he goes to the same place as we do, and apparently (supposedly) he would have been ok to give us a ride for very cheap - 30 or 20 monopolies... BUT, there were other 3 guys sitting by the road who approached the bus and starting arguing with the driver - from what Alex understood they were telling him that he had no right to do that and they were taxi drivers and he was taking away their bread... F-U-C-K-E-R-S!!! So they start arguing, we walk away... 300 meters later some guy comes in a bus and offers us a ride, another car stops by and they restart arguing... OMG! These Chinese would kill for money. :-) We walk away - leaving them arguing about us and money. In the end the guy picked us up and for 20 monopolies brought us to a hotel 5-km away. A 5-star hotel where a double-room "official" cost was 1500 monopolies. Muahahahaha, muahahahah!!! The girl at the desk (after having discussed with our driver who apparently told her that we were VERY greedy) offered us right away a discount of ~1200 monopilies... :-D So the announced price was 320... No way! It was too expensive and even there we bargained down to 260... :-)
