The first blasting culture shock didn't keep us waiting long. In one of the main parks of Shanghai we encountered something new: parents advertising their children (supposedly for marriage). Hundreds of A4 papers filled-in with the "products" year of birth, height, weight and monthly income are put out in the street by the "manufacturers" of the "merchandise". Very few pictures - I guess they wouldn't want to scare a potential customer right away. :-) Parents discussing with one another if their kids would make a good couple, if all conditions were satisfactory and so on. A shocker... for us. A norm... for them.
